Well, you've got your degree or completed your educational path. Now what? It can be very daunting when coming straight out of school to know what to do next. Your head can be full of questions:
How do I find the right career for me?
What industries should I look at?
How do I find the right job for me?
What will make me happy and fulfilled?
Where will my skills and experience best fit?
I can help! Let's partner to discover a rewarding career path. First of all, I won't "tell you what to do." What we will do together is learn how to ask the right questions, learn how to get answers to those questions, and work hand-in-hand to uncover a career path that you will truly enjoy.
Just got your degree in your field of choice or are you working in an industry that isn't a great fit for you?
Everyone finds it overwhelming to understand what "truly goes on" in various industries. By definition, you are truly "on the outside." Yet, making a choice of industries to pursue is key to your career fulfillment. All of us have felt like a "round peg in a square hole" at times. It's really important to find an industry that fits your skills, your passions, and your personality.
Don't end up in an industry where you hate going in every day!
You can only learn so much from internet searches and online reviews. No matter what you read online, you're still "on the outside." Let's partner one-on-one to find ways to explore different industries!
OK. So, you've decided that you're really interested in a particular industry or sector (e.g., public, private, non-profit, government). That's great!
But did you know that within a particular industry or organization, it can feel very, very different depending on the role or function you have within that organization? For example, life sciences Pharma jobs or Biotechnology jobs can be very different depending on where your role fits into the drug discovery and development pipeline.
Even though you may be very interested in a particular industry, it is critically important to learn where you'd best fit in within that industry. There are a huge variety of roles that call on different strengths, interests, and personalities within every organization. Also, different work groups within the same company can have very different cultures. It's critical to find a good match for your skills, your passions, and your personality.
Picking the wrong role or team can be a disaster!
Let's partnerone-on-one to help you ask the right questions and learn where you'd best fit in and enjoy your role.
So you have a job, maybe even a good title or salary, but are you really happy? Maybe you just "ended up" in this role. Maybe you thought you'd love it, but you don't?
It's critical to be very strategic about roles you apply for and accept, to decide where want to go, and then be strategic about how to get there.
Ever hear something like this?
Situation: You reach a fork in the road and ask:
You: "Which road should I take?"
Your friend: "It depends, where are you going?"
You: "I don't know."
Your friend: "Than it doesn't matter."
This fictitious scenario plays out on grand scale when conducting your job search. If you don't know where you ultimately would like to be, you can find yourself losing months to years in a job or industry that doesn't bring you fulfillment and happiness.
Don't make this mistake!
Let me partner with youone-on-one to help identify the best path forward and to build a strategy to get you there!
